TASK ELITE · HOMEOWNER PLANNING GUIDE
Already bought interior doors? Plan their installation in London, Ontario.
You have chosen the doors. Now make the next step about getting the fit, finish and scope right.
THE STARTING POINT
What to know before you commit.
Task Elite welcomes installation enquiries for customer-supplied interior doors, whether you have one door or several. Share the product details, quantities, existing openings, hardware and intended finish. The supplied door and its installation requirements must suit the opening; the written quote should distinguish fitting from frame changes, painting, materials and other agreed work.
Read the details
You have chosen the doors. What happens next?
Perhaps you have finally found the style you like. Perhaps several tired bedroom doors are ready for a change, or one awkward door is the last detail stopping a room from feeling finished.
You do not have to buy the doors through Task Elite to start an installation conversation. Our interior-door service welcomes customer-supplied installation as well as supply-and-install enquiries. One door and multiple-door projects are both welcome.
Start with what you purchased and where it needs to go. A loose door slab, a door supplied in its frame and a project that changes an opening are not the same installation brief.
Manufacturer JELD-WEN Canada distinguishes a slab—the door itself—from a prehung assembly with its frame in its interior-door guide. Use the documentation for the actual product you purchased, rather than assume every brand or model arrives with the same preparation and components.
Which product and opening details should you share?
A product link, order description or photograph of the packaging label can help identify what has been supplied. Share the information needed to identify the door, but leave payment details and unrelated personal information out of anything you send.
- The product. Brand, model, stated size and whether it is a slab or prehung assembly.
- The quantity and rooms. Which supplied door is intended for which opening, especially when the doors are not all identical.
- The existing arrangement. Ordinary photos of the door, frame, casing and floor on both sides, where practical.
- Prepared features. Information about factory hinge preparation, handle openings or other product-specific features.
- Known issues. Sticking, damage, an altered floor level or a frame you already expect to replace.
Measurements and product information help introduce the job, but they are not a guarantee of fit. Ask what needs to be checked before installation is agreed. Do not modify a newly purchased door simply to make it seem ready for the enquiry.
Hardware and finishing deserve their own line in the conversation
A door can be selected without every finishing decision being settled. Explain whether handles, hinges, latches and stops are supplied, retained or still needed. Ask who confirms compatibility with the selected door and intended operation.
Also distinguish a primed or unfinished product from the finished appearance you expect in the room. Painting, staining, preparation of affected trim and repairs around a replaced frame should be explicitly included or excluded. The word “installation” should not have to carry all of those assumptions.
For several doors, discuss the desired consistency of hardware and finish, while still identifying differences between openings. A coordinated project can have one clear brief without pretending every door requires identical work.
What should the written installation quote establish?
Confirm the doors and openings covered, what is retained, the fitting and preparation included, hardware responsibilities, finishing, removal and disposal, and any additional materials. Ask how an unsuitable item or unexpected opening condition would be explained before the scope changes.
The published installation starting guidance on the service page is not a complete supplied-door package or a rule that can simply be multiplied by the number of doors. The actual products, openings and agreed finishing work determine the written proposal.
Keep product warranty questions separate from the installation workmanship terms. Ask who handles a product issue, what documents are relevant and which responsibilities apply to customer-supplied items. No universal warranty arrangement is implied by this guide.
Prepare the enquiry around the home as well as the doors
Tell Task Elite where the work will take place, whether the products have arrived and which rooms need continued access. Discuss a suitable work area and how the installation fits around the household. Follow the actual manufacturer's storage and handling guidance while the products are waiting to be installed.
For a whole-home update, the multiple-door installation page provides the relevant project context. Exterior, patio and other assemblies have different scope considerations; identify those separately rather than describe them as ordinary interior doors.
When comparing proposals, use the scope comparison guide to check that each one includes the same finishing and responsibilities—not just the same number of doors.
Common questions about customer-supplied doors
Will Task Elite install doors I have already bought?
Yes, customer-supplied interior-door installation enquiries are welcome. The product, opening and proposed scope still need to be suitable for the work.
Is a single-door installation welcome?
Yes. Explain the one door and the work you need. You do not have to assemble a larger project before enquiring.
What happens when the supplied door does not fit?
The next step is to clarify the product and opening, not assume every mismatch can be corrected by trimming. Discuss appropriate options before modifying the product or changing the surrounding work.
Does installation include painting and new handles?
Only when those items are part of the agreed scope. Identify what you own, what you expect supplied and what finished appearance you want.
Can you create a new or wider opening?
Task Elite also considers new or widened openings, subject to project assessment. That is a different scope from fitting a door into a suitable existing frame.

JELD-WEN Canada's linked article explains product terminology and points to product-specific instructions; it does not establish the suitability of your supplied item or imply a Task Elite partnership. Your written proposal confirms inclusions, exclusions, materials, responsibilities and applicable taxes. Share your London-area location so project fit and scheduling can be confirmed.
